Just Kicking the Can Around…

I'm not 100% sure about which topic I will be writing my research paper, but these are a few ideas I have: 1) the decline of concrete media sales due to digital formats; 2) the modern day DJ: digital vs. analog; and 3) is file-sharing good or bad for the music industry? Over the next week, I will be doing preliminary research on each of these topics to help myself discover which direction I would like too go with my research paper. All three of these topics present a level of interest to myself, and hopefully others also.

  1. I think you would find more information on 2 and 3, as for 1 I'm not sure what the real issue is attached to the decline--is the decline in concrete media mean a decline in value? In eitehr case yo are thinking thorugh a very specific audience for 2 and a broader ausience for 1 and 3. I think this kind of project requires a broader audience. So choose 1 or 3.

  2. I think the 3rd one is probably the best idea in my eyes and would have the most information. To this day there are lots of different issues with file sharing in the music area. I wonder if there will ever be a point where they don't have problems with it or if it will always be like this?

  3. I agree with the comment above me i believe the 3rd topic will not only draw the most attention, but you will also find much more information on it. I myself see it being bad and good. Bad because these musicians that worked so hard to get where they are, and spent so much time, money, and dedication in a music studio, did all of that work just to have their music given out for free online. But also good because it will get there name out there, so if ppl like them they might attend a concert of theirs.

  4. I think that the file sharing of music would be a good idea to write about. With all the drama and contraversy about limewire and now frostwire. Do you think it sould be illegal to share music? If so what would you do to change the illegal distribution of music on the internet?
